Digsby's Pizza Digsby's Pizza

Opened March 8, 2016 by Jerry & Anita Winkler, Digsby's was borne out of a love for the restaurant business and a desire to bring some of our favorite foods to the people and communities we serve.

Anita grew up in the restaurant business and likes to say that her first words were, "May I help you?" She worked in the famiy restaurant throughout school and college, finally starting and operating her own successful restaurant in Wooster, Ohio, for several years before going into teaching full-time. While teaching and raising kids, she still found time to stay involved int he family business. As she says, "It gets in your blood."

While he didn't grow up in the business, Jerry worked several restaurant jobs throughout high school and college, doing everything from washing dishes to serving to running the fryers and being a line cook. Though his career path took him to the Fire Department, he continued to help out with the family business.

After searching for a couple years, the perfect opportunity popped up "out of the blue" in Seville, Ohio, and Digsby's came to life. It is named after the legendary Digsby Doolittle, a black long-haired Dachshund who remains the love of Anita's life. She wanted to do an Italian restaurant, while Jerry wanted an Irish sports pub, so while she won out with the Pizza and Pasta, she let him include some Pub Grub to round out the menu.

Most of the equipment was in place when we got possession of the building, but one thing that was missing was a stove. Through a stroke of luck (thanks, Steve!) we found an old Vulcan stove that had served for several decades in the cafeteria of a school building that had closed. So, for our first year, we used the same stove that cooked Jerry's lunches in elementary school.

Throughout the restaurant and the menu, you can see connections to other of Anita's family's restaurants, such as the famous Parmesan Ranch Dressing and Erika's Favorite from "When in Rome Ristorante," the Meat Lasagna from "The Miami," as well as the Chicken Toscana from"Toscana/The Boiler House" in Wooster. And let's not forget the hand rolled meatballs which are inspired by Anita's Nonni's recipe.

Digsby's continues that family tradition as our daughters and granddaughters, as well as the rest of our extended "family" of employees make Digs the place to go for the best Pizza, Pasta, and Pub Grub around.
